One year after Kendrick Lamar became the first solo hip-hop artist to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, the NFL is breaking new ground once again at Super Bowl 60.
The Super Bowl halftime show is a tradition as old – and in recent years, as spectacular – as the Big Game itself. In a few instances, the halftime show has outshined the performance from the teams on the field. But in the 59-year history of the Super Bowl, dating back to 1967, no halftime show headliner has put on an entire show in a language other than English.
That will change in a few weeks, when Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny – who sings in Spanish – takes the stage for the Super Bowl 60 halftime show.
Here's what to know about the global superstar set to perform at this year's Super Bowl halftime show in Santa Clara, California:

Who is Bad Bunny?
Bad Bunny is the stage name of Puerto Rican rapper/singer Benito Martínez Ocasio. He was born on March 10, 1994 in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.
Bad Bunny signed with record label Hear this Music in 2016. Two years later, he joined Colombian reggaeton singer J Balvin and Cardi B on a chart-topping single called "I Like It." Later in 2018, Bad Bunny released his first album, "X 100pre," which won the Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album.
In the years since, Bad Bunny has become one of the world's biggest musicians. He won a Grammy in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and his most recent album, "Debí Tirar Más Fotos" is nominated for Album of the Year in the upcoming 2026 Grammy Awards. Last December, Spotify announced that Bad Bunny was the world's most streamed artist of 2025, and "Debí Tirar Más Fotos" was the world's most streamed album.
This year's Super Bowl halftime show will be the second time Bad Bunny takes the stage at the country's biggest concert, but it's his first as the headline performer. He was a featured guest during Super Bowl 55's halftime show, joining Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

What did Trump say about Bad Bunny?
President Donald Trump appeared on a Newsmax program in October, shortly after the NFL announced that Bad Bunny would be the headline artist for Super Bowl 60's halftime show. Asked by host Greg Kelly whether people should think of boycotting the halftime show, Trump said he had "never heard of" Bad Bunny.
"I never heard of him," Trump said. "I don't know who he is, I don't know why they're doing it, it's like crazy. Then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it's absolutely ridiculous."
When asked about President Trump's response to the announcement, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said, "I'm not sure we've ever selected an artist where we didn't have some blowback or criticism. It's pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching."
Bad Bunny has been an outspoken critic of the president for years. That dates back to as early as 2017, when he performed at a benefit concert for hurricane relief wearing a shirt that read "¿Eres Twitero o Presidente?" which translates to "Are you a tweeter or a president?"
The Puerto Rican musician also showed support for former Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
Alternate Super Bowl halftime show
Shortly after Trump's response on Newsmax, Turning Point USA, the conservative organization founded by Charlie Kirk, announced an "All American Half Time Show" for Feb. 8, the day of Super Bowl 60.
The show's website, americanhalftimeshow.com, does not have any information listed about the alternative show; instead, it offers a form to fill out to sign up for more information. USA TODAY Sports has filled out the form to learn more details about the show once it is available.
