Whitney Port is moving in a different direction as she continues to try for a second baby.

The former reality TV star, 41, shared that she will no longer be using a surrogate to welcome another baby with husband Tim Rosenman. Instead, Port is hoping to carry the baby herself.

ā€œI touched on this in my solo episode last week, but after all the red tape, the money, the emotions, and just how long everything has taken, we’ve decided to go in a different direction,ā€ Port wrote over a photo of herself at a doctor’s office on her Instagram Stories. ā€œI’m scared to be the vessel, but I’m even more scared of letting fear stop me from trying for something I want so deeply.ā€

She also posted a photo of her sonogram, writing, ā€œUterus looks good! Let’s f--king go!ā€

Port and Rosenman are already parents to son Sonny, 9.

This past January, Port spoke with Spread the Jellyand shared an update on her infertility struggles. At the time, she explained that she was hoping to get to a place of acceptance with what her family looks like.

ā€œI don’t think motherhood looks like what I imagined,ā€ Port shared. ā€œI never thought I’d be a mom to an only child. I always knew I wanted more than one. I didn’t picture this, and that’s been a little weird for me. My identity as a mom doesn’t feel fully solidified yet because I feel incomplete. I really do.ā€

ā€œI’m trying to come to a place of acceptance with having one child, because I haven’t been able to get pregnant with a second,ā€ she continued. ā€œWe’re still on the journey and still trying. But it feels like there’s a piece of my motherhood pie that isn’t complete.ā€

Port explained she feels ā€œinsecureā€ sometimes as a mother because of it. She said when she speaks with other working moms, she doesn’t feel like they’re on equal footing.

ā€œThis sounds awful, but there’s this feeling like one isn’t enough — or that it’s not as hard, or not as much to balance, or not the full picture,ā€ she explained. ā€œAnd I carry that insecurity. I’ve done a lot of work around it.ā€

ā€œMost of the time, I’m able to tell myself, ā€˜Okay, if it’s just the three of us, that is wonderful.’ It really is. I’m so grateful that we were even able to have one,ā€ said Port. ā€œBut there’s still a part of me that doesn’t feel complete.ā€

Then in April, Port gave an update on her surrogacy journey during a solo episode of her podcast, With Whit, revealing that her surrogate is preparing for another transfer.

ā€œOur surrogate is starting her medications to begin another transfer. So, this will be our fourth transfer with the surrogate, and we will be using an embryo from our first round that I did,ā€ she explained. ā€œAnd I’m hoping because it was earlier that it’s better quality, but who even knows? All of these embryos have been great quality, and you just never know. So, four times a charm, let’s go.ā€

But in a July 22 episode of her podcast, Port shared that she and Rosenman were trying to find a new surrogate. ā€œWe needed to find a new surrogate and we started talking to a new surrogacy concierge,ā€ Port said.

ā€œThe whole thing has just gotten so difficult that I finally decided that I want to check out how I look physically and see if carrying is something that I can actually do on my own,ā€ she continued, adding that she had two viable embryos from previous in vitro fertilization (IVF) attempts.

ā€œIf I look okay to carry and the doctors think it’s safe, we’re going to give it a try,ā€ continued Port. ā€œDo I particularly want to be pregnant? Not really. I wish I had a more beautiful and inspiring answer.ā€

ā€œI did not love being pregnant. What I want is to wrap this up. I want a second child.ā€
