Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks are celebrating two decades of marriage.

On Wednesday, Dec. 10, the "She's in Love with the Boy" singer, 61, shared a special Instagram tribute to her husband of 20 years in a sweet social media post.

“The very best part of the last 20 years has been you. Merry Christmas, Valentine. I love you. Trisha,” she captioned a single Instagram photo of them together. In the close-up photograph of the couple, Brooks, 63, gently smiled with his eyes closed as his spouse planted a kiss on his cheek.

Brooks didn’t make a celebratory post of his own, but he did refer to himself as a “Proud husband” in November, while promoting her holiday album Christmastime online.

Ahead of their milestone relationship moment, the “Trying to Love You” singer opened up about what she’s learned most in her marriage during an In Her Own Words: An Evening with Trisha Yearwood event at The Paley Center for Media in New York City on Nov. 8.

"When I married Garth and I moved to Oklahoma, I stopped," Yearwood told the audience of working away from home. "I wasn't touring 200 days a year anymore. I was a bonus mom to three children and I was trying to make a marriage work, because I had learned that marriages don't work if you're never together."

"That's kind of important. You have to be together," she added. "I made a conscious effort to be there, to go to soccer games and cook dinner."

Brooks shares three daughters — Taylor, August and Allie — with ex-wife Sandy Mahl. The former couple divorced in 2001.

Brooks and Yearwood met in 1987 during a demo-recording session when they were both unsigned artists in Nashville.

Following his split from Mahl, Brooks proposed to Yearwood in May 2005. The country singers married in a private ceremony at their Oklahoma home on Dec. 10 of that year.

"It's the perfect Christmas gift to each other. We could not be happier," Brooks said in a statement at the time.

Throughout their decades together, the longtime couple has supported each other in many ways.

In April 2010, Yearwood published her second cookbook, Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood, which not only included a foreword by Brooks, but also a few of his creations, such as a dish called "Garth's Breakfast Bowl."

They also embarked on the Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood together in September 2014, pulling off 390 shows in 79 cities.

"You're looking at the luckiest, most blessed guy on the planet," Brooks told reporters before taking the stage at the Allstate Arena outside Chicago on the first night of the tour. "I'm madly in love with her, and I can't stand to spend a day without her."

More recently, Brooks was by his wife’s side when Yearwood was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in March 2025.
