Dr. Robby is ready to clock in for season 2 of The Pitt.

HBO Max's fast-paced medical drama starring Noah Wyle was one of the breakout TV hits of 2025. The series was critically acclaimed and earned multiple Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Wyle, and Outstanding Drama Series.

The 15-episode first season concluded in April 2025, and Dr. Robby and his co-workers are now scrubbing in for another day in the emergency room over a stressful July 4th weekend.

"Fireworks, alcohol-related accidents, bad judgments, celebrations gone awry," Wyle teased to Entertainment Weekly in December 2025. "It's a whole host of cases."

He continued, "And like on any Fourth of July, they start being one type of case, and over the course of the day, you get a higher acuity of cases coming in as people get more inebriated or take bigger chances or start dealing with more pyrotechnics."

'The Pitt' season 2

The Pitt season 2 premieres on Jan. 8, nearly exactly a year after the series debuted on Jan. 9, 2025.

In an April 2025 TVLine interview, it was confirmed that there would be a 10-month time jump between seasons 1 and 2 of The Pitt.

"Nine, basically 10 months later, gives a lot of room for us to have developed a few stories in the interim and catch up with everyone," said series creator R. Scott Gemmill.

Wyle added, "There's no benefit in coming back quickly, before everybody's had a chance to have this experience really sink in, and it manifests itself in behaviors that are interesting to watch — that are different or more informed than in Season 1."
