Meghan Markle is believed to have written off the UK as a "lost cause" following the release of the latest YouGov poll revealing her popularity ratings. The survey, conducted between July 20 and 21, placed her as the second-least popular royal among those polled.

The only royal to rank below Meghan was Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, with Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie both placing higher. The findings revealed that a mere 22% of Britons surveyed hold a favorable view of Meghan, while a striking 65% regard her unfavorably.

Speaking to the Mirror, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond commented: "Meghan is an intelligent woman. I'm sure she is perfectly aware of her extremely low popularity in the UK." This comes as experts say Markle's eyes are 'firmly set on' three key things as her UK popularity plummets.

"I should imagine she now views it as a lost cause and, in any case, she seems to be far happier with her sunshine life in California," Bond continued.

"I think Meghan can be credited with encouraging Harry to stop sulking about the past and concentrate on the future. But I'm not sure she has any further role to play in mending the rift between Harry and his family."

Markle made her return to the UK last month, accompanying Harry alongside their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, reports the Express.

The 44-year-old had been expected to join Harry at the outset of his visit, but following the denial of his request for police protection, Markle and their children stayed behind in the U.S.

A few days later, Markle traveled to the UK with Archie and Lilibet, with the family reunited for just under a week. Before her most recent trip, Markle had not been to the UK since 2022.

Archie and Lilibet had also not traveled to the UK since the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee in early June 2022.

Bond also said Markle likely has her eyes set on different priorities now that her UK popularity is so low.

"Meghan is an intelligent woman. I'm sure she is perfectly aware of her extremely low popularity in the UK... I think her eyes are firmly set on their lives in California, their children and her business ventures," she said.

Her professional endeavors with As Ever, along with additional responsibilities, also continue to be central focuses in her life.
