Rob Gronkowski says he participated in the raffles at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding because he was “trying to win something for my girl, Camille [Kostek]”

“You had to earn the raffle tickets and that’s why I appreciate it. It wasn’t no hand-me-outs, you had to earn the raffle tickets, and that’s what made it so much fun,” Gronk says of the raffle

Gronkowski admits he was starstruck by some of the guests at the wedding and jokes, “You’ve just gotta play it cool, though”

Rob Gronkowski says he appreciated the way the raffles were set up at Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s “magnificent” wedding.

Gronkowski, who attended the couple’s July 3 wedding in New York City with his girlfriend, Camille Kostek, tells PEOPLE he gave the raffle games a shot during the celebrations at Madison Square Garden.

“I did [participate in the raffle]. I was trying to win something for my girl, Camille,” the former tight end, 37, says. “I participated because, what was really cool was that you had to play the games in order to get the raffle tickets, so that was really, really cool.”

“You had to earn the raffle tickets and that’s why I appreciate it. It wasn’t no hand-me-outs, you had to earn the raffle tickets, and that’s what made it so much fun,” Gronkowski added.

When he wasn’t trying to win a raffle, Gronkowski says he hit the dance floor at Swift and Kelce’s wedding, where his former teammate, legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady, was also in attendance. Gronkowski says his “favorite highlight” from the evening “was just the dance floor and everyone performing.”

“It was so cool to see it live, to be able to have a good time on the dance floor and to mingle with so many people in my industry, but also so many people in other industries,” shares Gronkowski, who also admits he was “a little bit starstruck” by other guests at the ceremony. “I mean, when you meet someone that’s been your hero, that you’ve been watching, but you’ve just gotta play it cool, though,” he says.

In all, “it was a magnificent wedding,” says Gronkowski. “For how big it was, it was very intimate still. There’s no doubt about it.”

Kostek told PEOPLE she was “absolutely starstruck” by Julia Roberts during an interview at Sports Illustrated’s Beyond the Pitch event on Saturday, July 18. “Julia Roberts — I absolutely was starstruck. Even thinking about her, I lose my train of thought. She’s amazing,” she said.

Of Swift, Kostek said the singer “literally was like a real-life princess in her custom Dior.”

On Aug. 1, Gronkowski will livestream from the National Sports Memorabilia Collectors Convention in Chicago, where he’s excited to “dive deeper into the hobby and be a big personality and rip packs and have fun with it and interact with fans.”
