Myles Smith canceled his Vancouver show due to a ā€œmajor family health issueā€ requiring his presence at home

The singer assured fans the rest of his tour will continue as planned and expressed gratitude for their support

Smith shared he’s navigating personal challenges while balancing his debut album tour, which concludes in November

Myles Smith is putting family first.

On Tuesday, July 28, the British singer-songwriter announced he was canceling his show in Vancouver, Canada scheduled for Aug. 4.

ā€œTo everyone who was planning on coming to the Vancouver show. You may have received a notification that the show has been cancelled. I wanted to explain why, because I never want to leave you in the dark,ā€ the ā€œStargazingā€ singer wrote on his Instagram Stories.

ā€œThere has been a major family health issue at home, and important appointments are taking place on that date. I simply can’t not be there. Family has to come first, and this wasn’t a decision I made lightly,ā€ Smith, 28, continued.

Smith then acknowledged that fans spent their ā€œhard-earned moneyā€ to attend the concert — and that doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated.

ā€œThe fact that you continue to show up for me means more than I can put into words, and I never want to take that for granted or lose the trust we’ve built together,ā€ he wrote, adding that the rest of his scheduled shows are ā€œgoing ahead as planned.ā€

ā€œThank you for your understanding, your patience, and for always supporting me. It truly means the world,ā€ the ā€œRiverā€ performer wrote.

In a follow-up post, Smith wrote he had ā€œone moreā€ thought — and explained that he would ā€œnever cancel a show unless I absolutely had to.ā€

ā€œI’ve already seen some of the frustration and disappointment, and I completely understand it. If you’d booked time off, travelled, or spent money to be there, I’d feel exactly the same,ā€ he wrote. ā€œI’m not asking for anybody to feel sorry for me! I just wanted to give you as much information as I could, because I believe that’s what you deserve. Whilst trying to maintain the privacy of the circumstances back home.ā€

Smith concluded, ā€œI’m truly sorry and I’ll be back as soon as it’s feasibly possible. Thank you for continuing to support me. It means more than you’ll ever know.ā€

Earlier this month, Smith shared on Instagram that he ā€œwent home for a few days to be with the people I loveā€ and he thanked his fans in Ottawa, Canada for making his show an unforgettable night.

ā€œThere’s a lot going on in my personal life right now. I’ll probably talk about it when the time feels right, but for now I’m just trying to take things one day at a time,ā€ he continued. ā€œBefore I left, the people closest to me told me something I won’t forget: don’t rob yourself of the dream you’ve worked so hard for just because life is heavy back home.ā€

Added Smith, ā€œThank you for carrying me through last night. I can’t wait to spend the rest of the summer with you.ā€

Smith is currently on the road for his My Mess, My Heart, My Life Tour, which is in support of his debut album. The tour is set to wrap in November at London’s O2 Arena.
