Does Tate McRae have a new flame in her life?
Rumors that the 22-year-old pop singer is dating Jack Hughes are swirling after the pair were seen out and about in New York City on Monday, Dec. 22 — the day after McRae was spotted at the New Jersey Devils center’s latest game.
The “Sports car” singer attended the Devils game in Newark, N.J. on Sunday, Dec. 21, according to fan-captured photos and footage from the event. The game, which saw the Buffalo Sabres beat the Devils at the Prudential Center, was a big one for Hughes, as it marked his return to the Devils’ lineup following an injury in early November.
The day after the NHL game sighting, McRae and Hughes, 24, were photographed smiling and laughing on a stroll in N.Y.C. together. The pair, who were bundled up in coats and baseball caps to brave the December chill, walked side by side, the snaps show.

McRae carried a hot beverage cup, and Hughes’ right hand was in a brace of sorts. (He had an operation on the hand on Nov. 15, a few days after he injured it at a team dinner, per the .)
Prior to the Dec. 22 outing, the singer and NHL player were also spotted together in N.Y.C. in November, according to photos obtained by Deuxmoi. The pair were spotted dining face-to-face at Anton’s in the West Village.
A rep for Hughes declined to comment, while a rep for McRae did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Prior to sparking romance rumors with Hughes, McRae was dating fellow musician The Kid LAROI. The pair, who were first linked in early 2024, split in June, the pop singer confirmed in a cover story with Rolling Stone published earlier this month.

In the same story, the “Revolving door” artist spoke about how the lack of privacy surrounding her romance with the Australian singer-rapper, 22, and their subsequent breakup impacted her.
"It was really scary and overwhelming,” she told the magazine. “I would never talk that way, even about my friends’ lives. I didn’t realize how much it would affect me, the public knowing my private life — because no one knows the full story of anything, ever."
The star also noted that she hated that people were "painting a situation that’s worse than it is."

Three months after their split, McRae released the song "Tit for Tat.” Fans speculated that the track, which received a stamp of approval from Taylor Swift, was a response to The Kid LAROI's track "A Cold Play," which he dropped the same month.
Discussing the ways her personal life manifests in her music with Rolling Stone, the pop star said, “What I’ve had to realize is that he’s going to write songs and I’m going to write songs, and that’s our way of expressing ourselves.”
“That’s our art, that’s our job,” she added. “And once it’s out there, it’s not mine anymore.”
